Jiu Jitsu Student Uses Training in Real Life Self Defense Scenario

We’ve all seen or read stories about Jiu Jitsu students that use their training in real-life self defense scenarios. Reading these accounts of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in action never gets old.

Here’s a new one from one of our very own Aces Jiu Jitsu Club members…

“Y’all – Jiu Jitsu is real. Today I was attacked by a homeless man in broad daylight in a busy shopping center. He spat on me, threw punches and tried to choke and bite me. I’m a grown man and pretty competent looking but he was still willing to attack me. Thankfully, I was able to safely take him down and into S-mount until the Police arrived. Apparently assault between strangers is only a class A misdemeanor so, had he not later tried to attack the police officers, he would’ve just been let go.
I do want to thank the officers who helped me but really I want to encourage everyone who reads this to take some basic form of a self-defense course. You don’t have to dedicate your life to Jiu Jitsu or learning how to fight, but if I hadn’t known what to do, it could have easily been me on the ground. And oh, by the way, I was in front of a toy store about to buy gifts for a toy drive. He could’ve attacked a mother, her children, an elderly person, or anyone if he was willing to attack me and the police. Be careful, be safe.”
